I finally covered/recovered the cushions on my old rocker for Iain (one of the many pieces of furniture my parents brought out for us). It used to have “birdie” fabric on it that my mother put on it to match the quilt she made me when I was little, which I absolutely love(d) but…due to the fact that it was like…25 or so years old…it needed to be replaced so…I redid it in the scraps from the living room curtains (navy corduroy) and we will (eventually) be restaining it in bombay mahogany to match the rest of our living room furniture and Iain will have his very own ANTIQUE chair in the living room 🙂 Very exciting.
Anyway…like I said…I covered a new pillow for the back and recovered the bottom cushion…we just have to stain it and tack up the back pillow…but Iain got to try it out for the first time today 🙂 and he loved it…especially when I showed him that it rocks. He rocks it himself now and smiles the whole time…too cute. I’m not leaving it in the living room quite yet because he can’t be on it unattended…due to the manner in which he gets out of the chair. For some reason…I don’t like him diving head first out of the chair regardless of how funny he thinks it is…haha…the first time he did it…I nearly had a heart attack!
The first time I put him in it…he sat kind of confused…
Then I showed him that it rocked and he got a kick out of it (it doesn’t have rockers…it has springs that make it rock…much more stable…love it!). When he eventually dove off of it…he got the Bob the Builder book…and went back to the chair and stood in front of it…bouncing against it so it rocked (he can’t get in it himself yet…hasn’t figured that out…I’m sure it’s just a matter of time)…
I put him in the chair again…and he sat there smiling and talking and looking through his book and rocking and rocking and rocking…
All in all…the chair’s a big hit 🙂
