I had a bunch of green tomatoes (both bush and cherry) that I needed to do something with…we already have a bunch of jars of pickled green tomatoes…and I found that green tomatoes really just take on the flavor of whatever you pickle them with…like cucumbers…because green tomatoes don’t really taste like much so…I decided to try making bread and butter green tomatoes. The b&b pickles I made this year were AWESOME! and totally didn’t last very long because 1) I only had 3 pickling cucumbers and 2) they were really good! so…I figured…why not? I actually found recipes for b&b green tomatoes online but…I decided to use the recipe I used for the bread and butter pickles. I scaled down this recipe and they came out great! Just like bread and butter pickles only softer…’cause they are tomatoes. We now have 2 pints…one in the fridge and one in the basement with the rest of our canned goods from this summer…pretty cool.
